Peter Halley: Conduits of Culture

Peter Halley, born in 1953, New York City, came to prominence as a central figure in the Neo-Conceptualist movement of the 1980s. He uses his visual lexicon to examine the technological forces that regulate daily life. Known for his use of fluorescent colors and synthetic Roll-a-Tex surfaces, Halley embraces materials that are anti-naturalistic and commercially manufactured.

Halley is currently presenting new paintings at Galleria Mazzoli in Modena, Italy, as well as Exploding Cell, a new series of digital prints, at Triennale Milano in Milan. This month, he has also created site-specific installations for Le Consortium (Dijon) and the Addison Gallery of American Art (Andover, Massachusetts), extending his ongoing exploration of architecture, materiality, and pictorial space.
